Banna Rani Das is a Ph.D. Student in Civil Engineering (Environmental) who is joining the Qu[E|M] Lab team in Fall 2024. She received her BS in Civil Engineering with a focus on Environmental Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). Her undergraduate research focused on the effects of climate change on water temperature and temperature sensitive water quality parameters in water distribution systems in the capital of Bangladesh, Dhaka. She also explored multiple dimensions of research field such as water temperature modelling, machine learning, statistical analysis and human health risk assessment due to disinfection byproducts. Banna has shared her research at several notable international conferences, including the 9th International Conference on Water and Flood Management. Her another research work on monitoring water temperature at household level in different types of storage tank using sensor and assessing the effect of ambient air temperature on water temperature got published in 7th International Conference on Civil Engineering for Sustainable Development (ICCESD 2024). She also co-authored a paper on utilizing machine learning to identify key factors in online learning systems, which was presented at the 5th International Conference on Industrial & Mechanical Engineering and Operations Management. In this study, she developed a machine learning framework for predictive and data analysis in the field of information science. As a capstone project team leader, she attained leadership and work management. successfully designed and analyzed a sixteen-story building using AutoCAD and ETABS software. Her research goal is to combine machine learning and data science in the practical world of Environmental Engineering
